President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe on Saturday joked that he kicked the bucket during his trip to Dubai but came back alive.

Mugabe looked happy as he chatted with journalists at the air terminal in Harare.

“Yes, I was dead, it’s true that I was dead. I resurrected as I always do. Once I get back to my country I am real,” he said.

Talking in local Shona tongue, Mugabe said: “I had gone on a family matter to Dubai concerning one of my children.”

Mugabe's whereabouts have been dim since he got out a summit on Tuesday.

Flight data showed his plane went to Dubai after the original flight flew toward Asia. He has gotten treatment in Singapore in the past.

Mugabe's health has been under the spotlight lately, particularly after he tumbled down a staircase in the wake of tending to supporters a year ago.

He has denied reports  of being unwell and promised to stay for reelection in 2018.

Disappointment has been rising in Zimbabwe over a diving economy and affirmations of government corruption.

Zimbabwe is endeavoring to pay remunerations to warriors, police and other civil workers, adding to political strains including inside the ruling ZANU-PF party.
