Akuwa Adejo passes on after umbilical surgery in India

Type "Akuwa Adejo" on the Google search engine and you would find some more information on her. Miss Akuwa Joy Adejo was diagnosed with Umbilical Hernia and Liver failure.
She required liver transplant and umbilical surgery scheduled  to be done on 15th January, 2016 in India. She got some help through her account on gofundme.
I met Akuwa Adejo during our secondary school days at Command Secondary School, Lagos.

She got quite some help and had been gone for the surgery. Like we expected, the surgery was successful and she returned back to Nigeria.

However she passed away sadly over the weekend and was been buried in the morning of Saturday June 11, at Atan cemetery, Unilag road, Yaba, Lagos.

It's so sad to be informed of the death of Akuwa.

For those that were opportuned to know Akuwa, she had a beautiful soul and was so full of life. Even those who visited her while she was sick, could attest to her strength and positive outlook to life.

Like one of our classmates, Mariam Ilesanmi wrote on the group page, "Oh death, where is thy sting?"

Rest in Perfect Peace Akuwa Adejo. Till we meet again.

An umbilical hernia occurs when the opening in the stomach muscle that allows the umbilical cord to pass through fails to close completely. Umbilical hernias are most common in babies, according to the Mayo Clinic, but they can also occur in adults.

African-American babies, premature babies, or babies born at a low birth weight are at an even higher risk of developing an umbilical hernia. There is no noted difference in occurrence between boys and girls.
