
The Beninese Grammy-award winning musician, Angelique Kidjo won the Crystal Award during a ceremony at the opening of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday.
The award which recognises artists for their dedication to improving the state of the world lauded Kidjo for her “tireless humanitarian efforts”.
Now 54, she was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2002 and she worked on girls’ education. Her passionate advocacy for children and young people has seen her partner with the UN body and the Batonga Foundation, which she co-founded, to speak out for vulnerable children.
