A starving Nigerian child, who was deserted by his family because they thought he was a witch, has made an astonishing recovery just two months after he was found emaciated and riddled with worms.

A Kenyan rural midwife with 65 years' experience, has returned to primary school along with six of her great-great-grandchildren.


Priscilla Sitienei, 90, fondly known as Gogo (which means grandmother in their local language),  is arguably the oldest primary school pupil in the world. She enrolled at Leaders Vision Preparatory School in the Rift Valley village of Ndalat five years ago, with the hope of finally learning to read and write.

Mrs Sitienei grew up under British colonial masters and never had the chance to go to school, but now she wants to be able to read the Bible, pass on her midwifery skills and write down the herbal remedies she uses in childbirths. She also hopes to inspire those younger than her – including her own classmates, aged between 10 and 14, some of whom she delivered as babies.

How Nigeria spends the most millions of dollars in Africa to repair its image around the world

Corporate Europe Observatory compiled a report in African countries and in it, Nigeria was named the biggest spender in image making i.e PR or Public Relations. Every country in one way or the other, does image making, to give a good impression of themselves to the outside world.

 One of the quotes from the report is this: “The President of Nigeria hires a London PR firm to run his election campaign and distract from his catastrophic handling of Boko Haram. The Nigerian Government hired Levick, a prominent Washington PR firm, for lobbying in the US in a $1.2m contract to ‘change the international and local media narrative surrounding Nigeria’s efforts to find and safely return the girls abducted by the terrorist organisation Boko Haram",
