115-year-old Syrian refugee travels for months to see family

Eida Karmi, is 115 years old and is probably the oldest Syrian refugees alive.

She has abandoned their  war-ravaged country and travelled with family friends, heading all the way to Germany in order to see her children who fled there, some five years ago.

This refugee issue is a global one and  Africans and Nigerians, make up a large percentage of refugees. When can people have peace and learn to live in their countries?

Eida is currently in Athens, Greece and speaking from a migrant camp in Moria, Greece, she told CNN: ‘The only thing I need in life now is just to meet my children again – to see them.’

She has been carried through hundreds of miles by a man named Ahmed, who has become an honorary member of his family.

She told him: ‘I can’t walk – and if you didn’t do it nobody would do it, so you’ve been with me the whole journey carrying me and look after me.’ For over four months, they have travelled from the Syrian city of Hasaka to Turkey, before moving on to Greece.
