Company driver who was on the phone while driving kills security guard



A security man, Effiong Etim has been allegedly killed by an organization's driver, Henry Uduze.


Punch Metro learnt that 37-year-old Effiong was coming back from work on his bike when he was purportedly killed by Uduze on Omole Estate Phase II.

Witnesses said the suspect was getting a phone call when it happened.

A reporter from The Punch was informed that Effiong, a security guards, gave up the ghost at the Accident and Emergency Centre at the tollgate area, Ikeja.

An occupant, who talked on condition of secrecy, said the mishap happened around 9am on Monday.

He said, "The organization driver was leaving a bank and was occupied by the call he was accepting. He squashed Effiong and hit another motorcyclist. The back tire climbed Effiong's head, however the second casualty survived.

"The driver was going to flee but the security man at the bank held him. The case was accounted for at the Isheri Police headquarters."
The victim’s wife, Dorothy, a housemaid, said she was at her workplace when she was called that her husband had been taken to a hospital by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the police.


Punch Metro learnt that the body was kept in a morgue, while the casualty's better half was taken to the Isheri Police station to put forth her expression.


The casualty's family's legal counsellor, Mrs. Nike Olawepo, which was provided by her church, said endeavours to see delegates of the suspect's organization had been unsuccessful.
