Kenyan orphan with strange condition which caused his 'banana' to grow 15x bigger than normal

A 20-year-old man from Kisumu county in Kenya is suffering from has a strange illness that has made his  grow to more than 10 times its normal size and no, it's not hernia.


Sorence Owiti Opiyo, an orphan from Kibigori sub-location, developed the illness in 2007 at the age of 10.

The illness manifested itself through a swelling similar to a ‘boil’ which made his reproductive organ enlarge more and more.

Opiyo received treatment for the condition, a medical operation which caused a slight reduction in the size.

However, the condition re-appeared, this time, causing the abnormal growth. The man suffers occasional severe pain and is unable to wear shorts or trousers since the size is too massive to fit in any clothing.

The 20-year-old has not been receiving any formal education after dropping out of school due to stigmatisation for the condition.

A family member who spoke to TUKO.co.ke credited Olivia Ranguma, Wife to Kisumu Governor for financing the treatment of Opiyo, who is now admitted to Jaramogi Oginga hospital in Kisumu.

He is reportedly scheduled for an operation to manage the unnamed condition.
