The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that local Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the country are using the circulating photos of starved Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to defraud international donors and mobilize funds.
The funds are said to be diverted by the NGOs for their own personal use and not the use of the less privileged.
"Some local #NGOs use pictures of starving #IDPs to defraud foreign donors by mobilising funds, which they divert to their own use. #Gov Borno," the agency said on Twitter.
Now, that's not nice!
