British dads ranked worst in the developed world at sharing childcare with mums

According to a new study by the Fatherhood Institute, British dads are the "worst in the developed world" at sharing childcare responsibilities. On average, British fathers spend just 24 minutes caring for children, for every hour done so by mothers.

The study compared 22 countries on a number of factors including childcare, gender pay gap and parental leave. The top-five countries were all Scandinavian, with Sweden coming out tops overall, but when it came to  only comparing the amount of childcare done by men and women, it was Portugal who came in first place, with fathers spending 39 minutes for every hour done by women.

Britain has dropped three places in the rankings since the study was last conducted in 2010.
