They have been at the forefront of pushing for transgender bathroom laws to be enforced, allowing people who were born as a particular sex, use bathrooms of the sex they have transitioned into.
On Tuesday, the interim director of the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, Maya Dillard Smith abruptly resigned over the ACLU’s position on transgender bathrooms after her daughters had a bad experience seeing men (supposedly crossover women) in their bathroom.
In a statement, she explained that “I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet (tall) with deep voices, entered," reports The Advocate.
“My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many parents, was ill-prepared to answer,” she wrote.
She then went on to hammer the ACLU for promoting transgender bathroom “rights” only because of who is funding the organization. She wrote that the group doesn’t actually care about the issues, only a paycheck.
She has gone on to create a website called Finding Middle Ground – A Safe Space To Communicate About Civil Rights for All
