Seventy percent of Nigerian Governors' drivers have expired licences- FRSC

‘70 per cent of governors’ drivers ‘ve expired licences’

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) boss, Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi, said yesterday that 70% of Nigerian governors' drivers have expired driving licences.

He also mentioned that they are not well trained.

He spoke when he visited Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello in Government House, Minna in continuation of the commission’s public sensitisation on use of standard tyres.

The corps marshal said the Federal Government is working on sensitisation programmes for drivers in the convoy of CEOs to educate them.

Oyeyemi, who was represented by Assistant Corps Marshal/ Head Policy, Research and Statistics Kayode Olagunju, explained that lack of knowledge on the expiration date of tyres by drivers has led to the loss of lives and other challenges in traffic management.

He added that this led the FRSC to begin a nationwide sensitisation on use of standard tyres.
