Kwara state health scheme nominated for Financial Times award

Kwara State Community Health Insurance Scheme (CHIS) has been nominated for the 2016 Financial Times/ IFC Transformational Business Award.

The nomination came two years after the scheme won a finalist prize at the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Development Assistance Committee awards for development initiative in Paris, France.

The scheme was nominated under the “Achievement in Sustainable Development: Maternal and Infant Health” category of the awards. The nomination was done by Pharm Access Foundation, Netherlands.

This development was contained in a letter to the state government, which was signed by the Director of Advocacy and Program Development of Pharm Access Foundation, Dr. Kofi Boahene.

A Government House statement quoted Boahene as noting that the Kwara Health Insurance Programme was selected for the prestigious business award after a rigorous review of different programmes that have had transformational impact on the people.

More details later.
