Photos: JAMB candidates protest in Markudi- Over 60 of them now arrested


JAMB candidates in Makurdi, Benue state protested over unwillingness by officials to provide them with registration printouts scheduled for collection yesterday.

The protest which lasted for almost an hour caused heavy traffic along the Makurdi International Market Road as protesters barricaded movement of vehicles to and fro the area of the board.

It took the intervention of the Police who exchanged teargas with stones from protesters to restore normalcy, even as over four Hilux full of arrested candidates were seen being conveyed to the station by the Police.

The Benue Command of the Nigeria Police has now arrested over 60 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) candidates for vandalising the Zonal office in Makurdi.

The students went berserk and started hauling, stones, bricks, bottles and other dangerous objects into the fence housing the office.

They also broke some glass windows in the office complex.
