A three-year-old boy who got lost in a forest in Siberia has been found by rescuers after spending three days all by himself.
The little boy, Tserin Dopchut had been playing with dogs near his home in the village of Khut in the Tuva republic when he wandered into woodlands on Sunday.
It’s thought he may have been following a puppy when his great grandmother lost sight of him.
A search operation involving more than hundred people - including police, members of the public and staff of the Russian Emergency Ministry – spent three days looking through a 120 square km area of woodland.
There are wolves, and bears in the forest. The bears which are now fattening for the winter, can attack anything that moves.
The boy was eventually found around three kilometres south of his home village.
Local government chairman Sholban Kara-Ool said: “He recognised his uncle's voice calling his name, and called back. Once his uncle hugged him, the little boy asked if his toy car was okay. He said that he had some chocolate which he ate during the first day.
“Then he found a dry place under a larch tree and slept there between the roots. The whole village is throwing a party to celebrate his survival. He was given the second name of Mowgli.
“It is now predicted he will become a rescuer himself, because he showed incredible stamina for his age by surviving for so long alone in these cold woods.”
A medical examination found that Tserin had suffered no serious damage during his three-day ordeal.
