A Pakistani man was banned from boarding a flight here after he threatened to hijack the plane amid a document inspection at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), Malaysia today September 16.
In the 8.40am episode, the 62-year-old passenger flew into fury when an airline staff asked for his documents prior to boarding the Brunei-bound aircraft.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M Chandra said the passenger had uttered the words "I'm hijacking your plane" to the staff. "The staff continued with the inspection and warned the passenger against his action before letting him on board.
"The staff however alerted the pilot and was instructed to remove the passenger from the flight," he said, adding the pas
senger was escorted off the plane by airport security work force. Chandra said the passenger's baggage was also removed and no dangerous items were found. "The passenger was brought to the airport police station for his statement to be recorded. "It is learnt that the suspect was angry and expressed his frustration over the frequent document inspections and had disputed the regulation." Chandra said police would seek to remand the passenger, who works as a trader, further investigation.
