Indonesians culture that exhume corpses and gives them makeover

This is the bizarre ritual which sees an Indonesian community dig up the dead, clean their corpses and dress them up in their favourite clothes to parade them around the streets.
The practice, which translates as ‘The Ceremony of Cleaning Corpses’, sees the dead exhumed, groomed and dressed in new clothes and has been on than a century.

It was inspired by a animal hunter named Pong Rumasek who discovered a corpse abandoned and decaying under a tree as he hunted in the mountains.

Believing he was blessed with good fortune, Rumasek dressed the corpse in his own clothes and gave him a proper send off.
