The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara, Mr Sunday Maku, has warned traders to desist from the dangerous act of displaying wares beside rail lines in the state.
Maku gave the warning in Ilorin on Friday in a statement signed by Solomon Meremikwu, FRSC Route Commander and Sector Head of Public Enlightenment.
He also advised the public, traders, motorists, pedestrians and motorcyclists to be conscious of their activities near the railway lines.
“I have observed with dismay the activities of traders who display their wares close to rail lines,” the Sector Commander said.
Maku appealed to pedestrians to always be conscious whenever they walked along the rail lines in order to avoid accidents.
He said the Corps will arrest and prosecute any trader who illegally displays wares along the rail line as well as motorists who park their cars close to the lines.
