This Japanese luxury spa is for dogs only

The D+ Kirishima, also known as 'the premium stay',  is a Japan-based luxury dog spa that  offers high-end gourmet meals, luxury baths, pampering sessions and overnight stays for dogs.

The spa also offers a resident Shinto priest to help exorcise dogs possessed by evil spirits.

The "Pet Dog Exorcism Plan" listed on the spa's website is suggested for dogs in their “unlucky health years".

“Seven-year-old, 10-year-old, and 13-year-old dogs need to be careful of their health, as it’s easier in those years for them to gets diseases of ageing,” they explain.

The priest will perform the ceremony on the dog in front of the revered Shingariyu Shrine. The exorcism takes 30 minutes with the spa charging 31,000 yen (£235) per room for two people - plus pet - including breakfast, dinner and exorcism.

Humans and their their pets can relax in a mineral-rich bath and if the dogs want some 'alone time' away from humans, there's a private swimming pool just for that purpose.
