While Monsoon season is crucial for farmers across the country of India, , it also poses a major safety and health hazard, often causing landslides and water-born diseases. All across India, monsoon season has hit with a vengeance.
In northern Assam state, more than a million people have been displaced by rivers that have burst their banks. Children in the town of Pauri are having to risk their lives, just to get to get to school.

There is no bridge across then river and a rope trolley is the only means of transportation to the other side.

In the capital, New Delhi, monsoon season is causing major traffic jam too. Flooded roads and poor drainage have brought traffic to a standstill in many places.

And there may be worse to come as meteorologists say more heavy rain is forecast.
According to weather.com, the monsoon has displaced about 1.2 million people.
