Meet 112-year-old woman who's been smoking for 95 years (Video)

Batuli Lamichhane started smoking when she was a teenager. Now 112 years old, she says that the secret to a long life is smoking – after she has puffed away on 30 cigarettes a day for the last 95 years.

She was born in 1903, and took up smoking when she was 17.

This helped her to outlive almost everyone else in her village, including her own children.

“I don't really care how old I am, but I am old nonetheless. I have seen a lot of things change during my lifetime.”- She said.

” There is nothing wrong with smoking. I have been smoking for over 95 years,” she said.

Her advice is to avoid ‘commercially made’ cigarettes. Instead, Batuli recommends locally made ‘beedis’ – tobacco wrapped in tendu leaf.

Batuli’s husband deserted her eight decades ago. He migrated to India in search of a job. She outlived her four children. Her eldest son is alive.

She lives off donations made by a local Hindu temple.

“People of this modern age are under stress. And those who do not work will not live long. So you have to be active and stress free. You should always be happy, then you will live a long life.” she said.
