This is indeed a sad story.
Vesico vaginal fistula is not only a medical disorder, but a serious social calamity. It reflects the state of health system failing to meet the basic needs of a growing population.
VVF is an abnormal fistulous tract extending between the bladder and the vagina that allows the continuous involuntary discharge of urine into the vaginal vault; and it stinks!
The Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Zubaida Damakko Abubakar on Wednesday visited the VVF ward at Murtala Muhammad Hospital to check the health condition of the young patients and make some donation to them. The patients are pictured with bowls between their legs to manage the leakage. A large percentage of those who suffer from VVF are teenagers who are having their first births.
