'Eat very well irrespective of your status'- CMD LUTH, Prof Wale Oke

The Chief Medical Director of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Prof Wale Oke has charged members of the public to feed on appropriate and complete diet while noting that this is more important in growing children for a better society.


Speaking at the Town Hall meeting organized by Lagos State Wing of Civil Soceity-Scale Up Nutrition Nigeria in the hospital premises, he advised that proper nutrition if adhered to will help build a physically and mentally healthy community.

According to the Professor of Cardiology, “Eating very well irrespective of your status in the society is the best thing for a healthy and strong society. Complete diet should be the focus for children much more than adult either as rural dwellers or urban settlers to build a virile nation”

He praised the organizers of the meeting for using LASUTH as host venue promising to do everything within the ambience of his office to support them in future programs for the promotion of a healthy society.


Coordinator of the State wing of CS-SUNN, Dr Modupe Akinyinka in her opening address revealed that the town hall meeting was apt in order to share information and update the people on National Strategic Plan of Action on Nutrition (NSPAN) as well as taking into account the implementation of maternal and child nutrition interventions at the state and local government level.

In her word, “this meeting will identify opportunities and barriers to strategies adopted for the implementation of NSPAN activities and to discuss the probable options around the challenges while looking at the roles of accountability in tracking interventions”

Various speakers from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Community Leaders, Civil Organizations and the State House of Assembly made wonderful presentations to support the need for strong advocacy in the area of nutrition to build a healthy Nigeria.
