The eastern naval command, Tema, Ghana, has arrested 8 Nigerians for hijacking a fuel vessel in Nigeria. The vessevl MV Mariam was carrying about 1500 tonnes of crude oil at the time the high seas robbers hijacked it.
The owner of the vessel, one Mr. Sunday said his offshore company alerted the Ghanaian Navy Command to be on the look out for the robbers. The robbers reportedly turned around the vessel and entered the territorial waters of Ghana but a tracking device which had been fixed on the vessel enabled the owner to track it down.
