Gov Kwakwanso swears in acting Chief Judge in Kano

Justice Patricia Mahmoud a native of Idoma, Benue state, has been sworn in as the Acting Chief Judge of Kano state.

She is the second woman to serve in that capacity and succeeded Justice Shehu Atiku, who retired on Friday after attaining the statutory retirement age of 65.

She was appointed a Judge of the Kano State High Court in December 1991 and has served Kano State for a period of 31 years, 22 of which as a Judge.

She was nominated at least twice for elevation to the bench of the Court of Appeal but ‘disqualified’ on the basis that she is not an indigene of Kano State and cannot therefore be considered under the state quota. She is said to be married to a muslim.
This is a huge milestone....Congratulations to her!
